I have not seen anything in the forum, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up that the program, gfxCardStatus, in addition to allowing manual switching with the NEWEST graphics cards in the i5, i7 MBPs also works for the OLDER MBPs with dual NVIDIA cards (Intel Core 2 Duo). No annoying logouts required.
I have been switching back and forth between the two flawlessly for the last half hour without logging out, frankly amazed, that I had been told countless times that this functionality was not avaliable on the older MBPs due to hardware limitations that would require a firmware update.
