I am looking to buy a new set of earbuds for my iPhone 3G.

I want the mic and basic button for the iPod control. I have been search ebay, but the no-name options for $5 seems to good to be true.

So i am looking for opinions and suggestions on what brand/type you use for your iPhone. My price range tops at around $50.

Thanks for the input!

If you can spring for a little extra, I'd definitely recommend the Apple In-Ear Headphones. If you shop around, you might find a pair for $50-$60. In a word: Amazing:)

i have seen them for around my price range. I was not impressed with how short of a life span the original buds had, so i wasnt sure if the apple in-ear would be of better quaility.

Oh yes, the stock ones are garbage. They're only useful until you get the money to buy better ones :D

I've had my In-Ear headphones for probably 8-10 months now and they are still just as good as day one.

= awesome sound.

No, it doesn't have a mic on the cable, but you can still speak into the phone.

If you want an over the ear design, then you get the "81" version here

I have them in white, and they sound great. Despite the reviews from people saying one side went bad, mine still work and sound great with the foam ear bud replacements.

The Sony MDR-EX81's are garbage. I bought them at Target in black and they sound like crap, even when fully inserted into my ear. Then again, I am used to listening to the $179 Bose "On Ear" headphones, so maybe that's why. The other thing I hate about "In ear" type designs like the Sony's is that none of the 3 sizes fit inside my ears, they pop out only moments later so I loose all the bass. For me, for a cheap alternative (and lightweight) to my bose, I ended up going with a $20 pair of Sony's that just clip over the ear. These are perfect for me for going to the gym, I wouldn't want to be sweating all over an expensive pair of earphones. ;)

I've heard the Shure and the Apple ones are awesome, but they are in the $80 price range - AND AGAIN for me, they dont stay in my ears so they are worthless to me. I guess if I want in-ears I will have to go to a hearing specialist and have custom molds made for my ears. ;)

I was in the mall last night and wondered over to the Apple store while my GF did some last minute X-Mas shopping. I was looking around and decided to pick up the apple in ear headphones, I have the original Bose headphones without the mic. I wanted to pick up the Bose mobile but they were about $129 so I decided to try the Apple in ear.

I wore them on my commute in to work this morning and so far I love them! they sound great and fit really snug in my ear. They also come with spare little replacement mesh caps for the speakers which i thought was cool. So anyways I reccomend these the build quality and sound is waaaaay better than the original buds that come with the phone.
