After closing the screen of the MBP it goes to sleep indicated by the slow rythm of the light in the front. But when I open the lid, the light turns off, the hard disk makes a certain noise, but the screen does not turn on, forcing me to do a reboot by holding the power button. What is going on?

Does this happen all the time? I have had this happen once or twice on my Early 08 MBP. Not sure why it happened. I hadn't done anything different than I normally do.

If it's happening all the time, I think that would be unusual and worth getting checked out.

You must be running on battery right?

It looks like your computer's battery is running on reserve when it enters sleep. In this scenario, it will not wake from sleep.

Plug in your AC, and try to wake it up again.

Nah, not on reserve... It even happens when the mbp is connected to a power source.

perhaps the update fixes this issue. I get it after prolonged periods of sleep modes, being closed or open is irrelevant as well.
