I have read in some posts that apple extended the wararnty to two years, is this for all 8600GT machines? I checked the warranty status on mine and it shows the regular one year

thanks

Apple didn't extend the warrantee for everything. They'll replace your 8600M GT if if fails, but unless you buy AppleCare, that's it.

Apple said:
If the NVIDIA graphics processor in your MacBook Pro has failed, or fails within two years of the original date of purchase, a repair will be done free of charge, even if your MacBook Pro is out of warranty.

So... Tallest Skil, according to apples website they extended the warranty solely for the graphics card to 2 years since purchase.

Yes. And note that is first purchase. If the original buyer decides to bail out at 23 months, and the next buyer has the 8600 burn out at 25 months, they are out of luck.

I see dealers online pushing these older models hard with no disclosure on the known, admitted problem.
