MacBook Pro 2.33 C2D, Leopard 10.5.6
No sound comes out of my Internal speakers, yet headphones work fine.
System Preferences > Sound shows me that the Internal Speakers are recognized and when I press the volume buttons I get the normal speaker overlay graphic but no sound comes out of the speakers.
I have peered inside of the jack, there is no red optical light showing (this is not the infamous "red light" optical problem. I have checked system preferences and it shows Internal Speakers. I have attempted the "sleep trick" where you plug in a pair of headphones, put the computer to sleep and then unplug them then wake the computer. No dice. I attempted a VRAM/PRAM clear. Nothing. I reformatted the machine -- still no sound.
NOTE: I had been using an Apogee Duet DAC (firewire) for the past few months and did not attempt to use the Internal speakers at all during this time. They worked fine before and now don't work. I have no idea if this is related but after a fresh install of Leopard, I'm not sure how it would be.
This is driving me absolutely nuts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
