Early 2008 MBP not responding to power button

Hi,

I have a 2.5ghz Early 08 MacBook Pro and I have had some issues lately,

Sometimes when my Mac goes to sleep and I put the MBP back on charge it doesnt respond when I go to power it back up using the power button, I have to replace the Battery for it to respond to the power button.

I have replaced the battery as it needed replacing and I am still having the same issues, I have also followed the guide to resetting the SMC and while it has improved every so often it happens again?

has anyone experienceed this issue? anything I can do about it?

I have never experienced this situation before, but I have got my exact same machine swapped with a CTO Mid-2010 MBP - Base model (After numerous hard drive failures). By all means, try your luck.
