The early 2008 MBP lacks 802.11.ac and Bluetooth LE (4.0) for handoff/continuity. The Apple BCM94360CD is an upgraded combo chip which includes those aforementioned specs. It is to my knowledge however that a MBP of this vintage has separate bluetooth and wireless chips, and that specific combo chip would fit into the MBP's logic board. So my question relates to whether or not anyone has attempted this and if it works, and if you haven't done this retrofit, could it work? theoretically of course? Doing so you'd have to disconnect the separate bluetooth chip under the keyboard, bypassing it and extending the antenna to the combo chip. I would like to try this but am looking for someone with more expertise on this model macbook.

Maybe these guys may make things a bit easier?:
