Hey,

I'll cut straight to the question. Where can I find an official Apple replacement battery for my early 2009 MBP 17"?

Explanation:

About five months ago my original Apple battery swelled so badly that it bent the unibody and pushed up the trackpad. Being in Germany at the time, I was not prepared to pay £175 to get it replaced, so I opted for a third party replacement.

It worked fine for about 3 weeks, and then stopped charging. I contacted the company and they replaced the battery. A few days ago I was booting into Windows and the battery failed again. It wouldn't charge, and the computer wouldn't work off the power source.

So, I made an appointment with Apple to see what they could do. They said without an official Apple battery to take out, they couldn't replace it with a new one. They recommended I try a third party store. I contacted a few around the Phoenix area, but none seem to competent to get the right parts, or charge a reasonable amount.

Seeing as it isn't rocket science to replace the battery, I figured I would just order a new one and put it in myself. The problem is, that other than ifixit (out of stock), I can't seem to find an official Apple battery. They all seem to be cleverly worded third party versions.

I am hoping you guys can help me find some retailers that sell official batteries at a reasonable cost. eBay, and some of the stores I've found online are just too shady to trust that the battery is legit.

Anyway, I appreciate any help you can offer.
