Hi,

Basically I'm looking to upgrade to SSD for my 2.7Ghz early 2011 MacBook Pro (MC724).

Ideally I'd want 256GB or bigger and 16GB RAM.

What SSD and memory are best?

I've been looking at the OCZ Vertex 4 and Corsiar (2x) 8GB 1333Mhz RAM.

However, is the Vertex 4 a bit overkill being SATA 3 and my MBP being SATA 2?

And are there better memory than the Corsiar? I know I'm stuck with 1333Mhz, but are the better timings than 5-5-5-24?

Any input is helpful =)

You are likely to get a load of different opinions when you ask questions like this. Most components are all going to work similarly for you, so I will let you know what I put in my early 2011 MPB.

Intel 520 SSD 256 GB
16 GB OWC 1333 DDR3

I have been very pleased with the results and absolutely no problems.

By the way, your unit is SATA 3 capable.

Hope it helps.
