Hi Everyone,

I am hoping that someone can please point me in the right direction here. From the title of the post you can see I am looking to replace the battery in my MBP. I tried Apple, but my system is considered “vintage”, so no go there. My next thought was to go with OWC, but then I read some posts saying that their batteries were no good.

I have been reading everything I can and I cannot find any SOLID information on any given battery make and/or manufacturer. You find a few reviews that sound good and then run across people saying that the seller or company is disreputable and where did the reviews come from.

I am based in Canada, so if anyone knows a good source here, that would be most welcome. I do not mind ordering from the US as long as I know that I will be getting a good reliable product. Of course, I am going to take a hit on: taxes, shipping, exchange rate and duties, but I still do not mind paying if it is a good product.

iFixit will not deliver to Canada, plus many others are the same. I found several batteries on Amazon, but nothing really to recommend any of them. Newegg has zero in stock and what they carried had a lower capacity than original. eBay is pretty much a crap shoot. Others sound good to start with, only to read further in their description saying that it is only good for 300 - 500 charge cycles.

I literally have no idea where to go with this and feel that I will be throwing my money out the window whatever I buy. If anyone has any recommendations based on actual experience I would really like to hear what you have to say.

Many thanks for reading and for your anticipated responses.
