Early 2011 17 MBP - screen is scrambled with squares and black white..mix??

second time today. The screen is a jumbled mess.....like a crap load of white noise but more solid like squares.

no problem outputting to tv but when i open the mbp I can't do anything..hard reset and it works..

Sounds like a problem with a certain app (Flash Player, a game, et cetera) or with the GPU. Try a clean installation of OS X on an external drive (USB or FW800). If that solves your problem, then it is not a hardware problem.
