Hey there,

I’ve got a 2011 MacBook Pro, she works alright and I know it’s time for a new rig but I was hoping to ride this one until September. Just today I was just doing internet stuff and realized I hadn’t restarted in about a week so I closed everything down and restarted.

Clicked my username, did my PW and the loading bar happened. And I waited. And waited. And left the house and came back after 2 hours and it was still showing a “full” loading bar but no movement. Now I know something is really ****ed up.

So I have tried: resetting PRAM, resetting NVRAM, starting in safe mode DID NOT WORK at all. Started in command + R (recovery?) and my Macintosh HD CoreStorage Logical Volume is showing as unmounted. I can mount it, I ran first aid and it came back OK, but when I restart after re-mounting it the same **** happens. Then I can hard-press quit again, I can get back to disk utility, it says unmounted, then I have to remount...you get the picture. The other thing is that when it’s mounted I can see the GB used, info says it’s writable etc. So it is being detected by the system.

Just before I did the first restart (before knowing there was a problem obv) there was 12gb showing available on a 320 HD.

What am I missing here? Please help if you can. I really do not want to have to buy a new computer rn. Oh and I do have a backup so we good there ;)
Thanks a lot and please ask if you want more info!!!

Ps I am running High Sierra whoops
