I just did a geek bench test and my early 2011 MBP is outperforming the new 2015 12 inch retina Macbook. How is this possible? Over the last 4 years, did looks become more important than the power of the machine?
My 2011 MBP is heavier but still really portable. How can this be?

Because the rMB is using a low clocked low power processor designed to be used in a fan-less environment without overheating. This is to get the ultra thin and light design and the great battery life, and yes technology has changed a lot in 4 years and this computing power and battery life would never have been possible with old tech, the chips required cooling and space and a lot of battery power to run at that performance.

In short the new rMB is a marvel of modern engineering even if you can't appreciate it.
