iPod Early 5G iPods: No Search Feature?

I had NO idea there was a search feature on the newer iPods. This has been a feature I wanted for a long, long time. There is no way to make it available for my 5G iPod? got it in the beginning of '06. They should put it in a firmware upgrade or something

I don't think that there is a way, I also have a 5G iPod that I bought in early 06 and it does not have the feature.

yeah. i found that out too. Kinda sucks...are you sure that it's not just for the flash based ones (nano)? I have only seen that feature, or at least verified it, on the nano.

Not 100% sure but I think it's on the Video iPods as well.

It was announced for the revised video iPod and 2g iPod Nano at the "It's Showtime" event on Sept. 12 2006.

The search feature is only available on the "5.5G" iPods with the brighter screens, even though Apple could easily update the early 5th gens with a simple software update
