I can save $400.00 by buying an early 2011 MBP 17" vs. a late 2011 model. What does the late 2011 have to make it worth $400.00 to me? Or would it be better to buy the early 2011 and use the savings to upgrade the ram from 4GB to 8 or 16GB? Also the early 2011 has SL vs. Lion. I do have Lion server on my late 2009 Mac Mini.

That really depends on what you're going to be using it for.

I can get 8GB of ram from a local ASSP for $129.00 on sale now and AppleCare with my daughters EDU address for $239.00. That and SL would allow me to run some PPC apps till I want to upgrade them. Decisions, decisions.

I went back to the ad and it's $450.00 off so I ordered it online for in-store pickup. They are suppose to send me an email confirming that they have it in stock within 20 minutes. :D

Just got a phone call, I got the last MC725LL/A in my area. :D :apple:

ETA: this is a late B-Day and early Christmas present to me.

I've got an early 2011 17" MBP.

I use it for Photoshop and have constructed a my website with it. I've found it a joy to use and I'm sure I've only used a fraction of it's power. I've been blown away upgrading from an early 2008 MBP.

The only thing I would have preferred would have been a smaller SSD as opposed to the 750GB HD but simply cause I don't need all that storage internally.

I'm sure you'll love your new laptop.
