Oh man,

The sound cutting out started up again after a while!

I found the actual fix number:

1. NB: MBA > USB-C Hub > Monitor > 3.5 Lead to Sound system.
2. To Fix - Turn the volume up on the MONITOR to max.
3. I.e. The sound system shut downs, if it thinks no more sound signal.

4. Then later.... I found the fix, looking on the internet:
Would have been good finding this days ago! 😆

I got to the bottom of this issue in the end - Not safari related.

It was a 10yr old sound system with dusty dodgy connections!

In the end I went back to my windows work laptop, and did the same youtube thing. The sound cut out on EDGE....

So to fix:

1. I took a mini hoover to the sound unit, and sucked the dust and crap out of all the connection ports etc. (Was sitting on a shelf for 10years not used, and uncovered.)

2. I tried again with MBA - works better now. Not cutting out every minute.

3. Also - I plugged the sound lead back into earphone jack in the back of the monitor. This works now, since I lowered the screen refresh rate down to 60Mhz. (?! No idea, but I gave it a go. Last time I had the same set up, it was at 144Mhz, and the sound out of the MBA was really bad. Dodgy hardware again? No idea, but works now, and cabling cleaner :))

Martin

Hi All,

Hope you can advise.

For streaming music, is there a problem with how I have set my sound system up?

I have not been able to find a working music app so far, so am only playing music with Safari online right now, when I noticed this issue.

With the same hardware set up I do not have a this sound cutting out issue with the PODCAST apps on Mac
I also do not have any issues with work Zoom calls etc. on the work Windows laptop.

The issue:
The sound keeps cutting out when I play streaming music on Safari. so far I have tried YouTube and AmazonMusic.
The Music play fine for a while, I have sound volume control etc.

Then the sound system shuts off, like its been told to turn off by the MBA.

As I say, with the same hardware set up I do not have the same sound cutting out issue with the PODCAST app.
The sound system also works flawlessly for over hours with the Work laptop with ZOOM calls etc. with no cutting out,

My set up
M1 MBA
Big Sur 11.0 (Not upgraded yet.)
Safari with a Adguard ad blocker on it. I don't think I've changed anything else.

I have a lead from the MBA earphone jack into my sound system. (https://www.whathifi.com/logitech/pure-fi-anywhere-2/review)
I have also tried the same sound lead from the Dell USB-C hub connected to the MBA, with the same results.

Is there a work around? Another browser I can use etc?

Hope you can advise.
Kind regards
Martin
