Easier way to assign a music file as ringtone ?

Can anyone suggest me an easier way to assign a music file as iPhone's main ringtone ?
I am aware there is a way which involves multiple steps and requires a computer, don't remember those now.
But if there is an easier solution to this, it would be great.

If you want an MP3 made into a ringtone, iTunes can do it for you very easily. It just takes a few steps.
