Hello!

I am getting a fresh R 290 card soon for my old 2010 MP , however I read these posts about adding external PSUs internally, and they scare me off to no end.

What is the easiest way (not most cost efficient, I don't mind paying 100 bucks a year if it saves me the hassle of cutting stuff) to add an external PSU together with a R 290 card?

1 . Did anybody do that ? The mumbo jumbo way aka just connect the card to the main board and the external PSU, and then the external PSU to the grid?

Does it work? If you did it, did you just take off the cover from the side and keep the MP open? I saw this : http://macperformanceguide.com/blog/2011/20110406_1-PowerHungryVideoCards--howto.html

is this still applicable?

2. Is there any special caution that has to be taken when doing that?

3. Can I leave the PSU on all the time even when I shut down my MP? Does it matter if I start the MP first or the PSU?

best regards
