As topic suggests, I've been SSH-ing and backing them up manually, but is there a simpler way?

Thanks!

I'm talking about legit Apple apps from iTunes.

It does automatically backup the save file, maybe it's the game putting the save file where the iTunes doesn't backup. What game isint backing up or is it all of them?

The standard iTunes backup should save that stuff. When you restore from backup the phone restores the settings first, then it restarts and restores the app data. For some reason sometimes there is a delay after it restarts to restore the data. Sometimes it doesn't even restore the app data. Sometimes I've had to keep restoring the phone from backup over and over until it restored the data

Oh boy. Yeah it's not backing up any of the save data from any of the games... *sigh*

Guess I'll keep SSH'ing then. Thanks, Apple, for not letting it be easy to just back up save games...

I'm also wondering if there's a way to get the saved game data. My iPhone 4 has a problem where it won't back up mo matter what, so Apple is replacing it. I'd hate to lose all my saved game data. So is there no other way?

not unless you're a leet hacker who can jailbreak your iphone with tools that you've created and retrieve the game saves.

Um ok. Well it didn't work for me when I restored my backup. Just sayin'.... Lost all my game saves.

i just love all of the people saying false. for some apps it does backup for others it does not. Gasbag for example saves all of its data in the app folder, yet when i do a restore from itunes it is not there. never there. the only way i can keep it is to SSH in, copy it to my mac, upgrade/restore/whatever, then SSH it back in. done this many times. waiting on the iphone 4 JB so i can continue using it again.

I'm with OP. My game saves have never carried over backups.

I prefer to restore as new anyway, is there anyway to SSH and retrieve game saves, App settings, etc?

Hi,

I use AppBackup off Cydia. It's designed for the iPhone but works on my iPad perfectly well. Basically you can backup any or all your apps save data to individual tarballs in one location. You could then SSH them from there.

I haven't tried restoring yet but it looks to do the job.

Note it doesn't do Cydia apps but works okay for anything out the App Store. The developers website is http://www.scott-wallace.net/iphone/appbackup

Hope that helps!!

Barry.
