I have successfully used black nail polish to fill in missing glass pieces along the outer frame. Layer over a plastic screen protector (not the flimsy film) over.
Have been like this for a year.
I have air pockets where the nail polish was applied but that unit serves the purpose.

I had missing glass pieces in the black areas on the front.
I applied several coats of nail polish, waiting for them to dry between coats.

Once that was all done I purchased a glass front cover to make the front surface smooth again. The areas which had nail polish applied created some air pockets as they are higher than the rest of the glass.

Perhaps you can post a photo of the damage you have...

I rarely upgrade iPads though .. I'm assuming by your signature you constantly upgrade to the latest.

I was able to borrow some black nail polish so hopefully it works.
Not always, just upgraded both last year (Late 2014). Although I will probably do the same again this year if it is worth doing. Always the phones however. How rarely for you?

I always upgrade my iPhone because I always give my "old" one away to my parents.

I am still using a late 2008 MBP though, and I will probably get another year out of it as I recently put in an SSD and upgraded the ram to 8 GB. It runs great! No complains about it at all... I think the feature that attracts me the most of the newer MBPs is the retina display but I'll probably wait for Skylake or a redesign (which we'll probably get soon).

With the iPad, I began with a 2, then upgraded to the 3, then the mini, and now the Air. Don't see me updating my iPad at all unless a must-have feature comes along (you never know). The Air is the perfect size, hence why I am upset with the crack. :(

Intelligent points, good to have level headed conversation! :)

That is basically a mirror of what my eldest brother has done... Nick? XD (upgraded 2008 and all) but with a 640GB HD instead.

I do the same thing with the phones, I let my dad have ine if he wants it. As long as I have a spare which is currently my iPhone 5 becase I let him use the 5S etc. We are nice to our parents!

I agree about the iPad points, I did it for Touch iD (Air 2) it will take something special for me to upgrade again too. Possibly a new mini this year, just because I would like a bit more storage than what I got a few years back in one, and even if it was the same spec as the Air 2 but smaller I would be happy. Must have features are rare yes, but you made the right choice with the Air as it was the redesign (the way I see it is that the Air 2 is only slightly different physically).

My first Mac is my current, storage is a bit of an issue though.
