Easiest way to export backup of iTunes apps & iDevice backups

Should I just copy the (Server->Users->John->Library->iTunes) folder to an external HDD?

What about the iTunes File Menu->Library->Export Library option Same result?

Since I'm only concerned with apps maybe just forget about everything and when I'm on the new computer Transfer Purchases from iDevice?

Or when I'm on the new computer and logged in with my AppleID just select download purchases?

EDIT: Since I'm only concerned with the few apps that are on my iDevices I think I'll just Transfer Purchases and backup my iDevices when I'm on the new computer.
