I know that if I tap the upper menu bar area I can instantly scroll to top... but, does a similar feature exist if I want to get to the bottom of a page instantly?

Well that is really not cool.... (i.e. using Facebook and I want to get to the bottom of a super long message...)

If you're talking about Safari, the bottom area has icons. How would the phone know you weren't trying to tap an icon?

If you're talking about the Facebook app, they could probably implement fast scroll if they wanted to. Email them and request the feature.

If your iPhone is jailbraked, install Quickscroll from Cydia. Awesome app. Just triple tap anywhere and a small scroll bar appears which allows to go really fast anywhere.

Hmm, scrolling to the bottom quickly is something that would seem pretty basic. I guess market research showed no one scrolls to the bottom so it's not part of the "core user experience".

Haven't heard of any officially supported methods.

Since this got dredged back up, I hope the latest posters RTFT and noticed you can do this by using the first post attached above. Also, you can do it this way, which allows for all kinds of features:
