Hi

Sorry for the easy question but I cant find the answer anywhere else.

Im interested in buying a Time Capsule and wanted to check if you needed to plug your existing BB router into it?

My understanding was that it is a router so just plug in the BB connection and off I go but I read this on the store:

"Connect your DSL or cable modem to Time Capsule"

Which has confused me, please could someone clear this up for me.

Cheers

I think you may be getting your terms confused. The Time Capsule is indeed a router, but it is not a modem. You need to connect your broadband modem to the Time Capsule for it to work.

Unless you meant that you have a combination modem/router provided by your ISP, in which case you can still use your Time Capsule as an access point without having it do any actual routing. In AirPort Utility, you can disable DHCP on the Time Capsule and have it act as a Wireless Access Point by setting it up in Bridge Mode.

thanks for clearing it up, glad I asked here first before buying it.
