So, I go wild swimming every morning. Now that it gets older I would like to track the water temperatures a little more closely.

Is there way to do this with the Ultra? If I try to record water temp with the depth app (during a swimming workout) it tends to just shut down and goes back to the workout screen…..I suspect because I don’t submerge the watch deep enough.

What’s the best way to measure water temp?

Ohhh, I will try that!
Hey, I've been having the same question as you for a while. The solution suggested doesn't really work for me. My routine is before I get in the water I start the workout and pause is, and then unpause it when I'm ready to swim. As it's a pain to interact with it with the hands wet. And once the workout has started the depth app won't auto launch. So far the only solution I've found is a paid app called Open Water https://apps.apple.com/app/id6444587873 .
I'm still on the free trial while I decide that it's worth £25 a year. Other than being a bit more precise than the workout app, it doesn't offer much more.

Thank you for that reply! I do exactly the same and the above also doesn’t really work for me! Will try the Open Water app ☺️

No problem. By the way, I remembered that in order to take the water temperature they suggest taking a quick dive underwater, as the temperature sensor doesn't kick in otherwise. Not too much fun in very cold water, but it's been working for me.

Yep, that’s an issue for me, have used it for the last 2 days, but can’t get temp sensor to kick in unless I go under which I can’t do as I go straight to work from my swims 🥴 so still not a solution for me. Such a shame, as the depth app kicks in WITHOUT me having to go under and I would have thought they use the same sensor for it?

Oh, that's a shame. Yes, it doesn't make much sense, if I use the Depth, it does seem to kick in just after submersion. It might be different for 3rd party apps.
If you come up with something let me know, and I'll do the same, as I'm not sure I'll pay £25 a year just to get temperature.... Good luck.

I take a bath everyday and would like the temperature to be logged in the health app, however, during one year of bathing with it, i just have one measurement in the health app.
How is it for you?
