I have 500 mp3's I want to transfer to a limited capacity MP3 player and I need to encode them at a lower bit rate to get them to fit on it.
Is there a utility that will let me do this? Ideally I'd just point it at a folder with the files and tell it what new bit rate I want. I dont even know what rate I need so I will need to experiment a few times probably. I'm sure I could do it in in 3 or 4 steps with iTunes per conversion, but that always insists on sucking anything you show it into the iTunes library even if it doesn't import the files, so I want to stay away from that if I can.
p.s. I know I'll lose quality twice doing this (lower bit rate & conversion) but this is a phone I'm importing to and its just for listening on the train, so hifi isn't the order of the day in this case
