Is the only way to save space on your iPhone, if you want to keep your photos, to plug it into a MacBook using USB, transfer the photos One by one then delete from the phone? Is there an easier way?

I've tried iCloud auto upload but that seems to delete your photos from iCloud too if you delete from your phone.

Can you use wifi to automatically transfers old photos to the MacBook whenever it's turned on? Is there an app that does this?

AirDrop, depending on the age of your devices. Then gather the files form your "Downloads" folder and sort as you see fit.
can you do multiple photos at the same time with airdrop? or only one by one?

As many as you see fit. I've done hundreds at a time. If you are not sure how to use it see below.
