Hey does anyone know of a cheap decent website builder that does all the HTML for you. I'm working on learning html but I really don't have the time and i need something that I can just slap and go. I currently use Trellix with earthlink but it doesn't give me the freedom of placing things were I want them. Thanks in advance.

Well, Create by Stone Design is a handy application for that type of thing... and can be used for page layout and illustration work too. The Stone Design Suite adds a number of other web tools (SliceAndDice, PhotoToWeb and GIFfun) that can help round out most of the types of things a web page might need.

And if you are using Tiger, Stone Design's iMaginator is a nice Core Image based image editor.

Also,

You might not know this, but Pages can actually make websites for you. They don't always turn out perfect, but try exporting/Saving As... your Pages documents and selecting "html" as the format.

Pretty slick, eh? :D

Micromedia Contribute. No experience Needed, and you treat your page like a MS Word Document.

Free Trial for 30 days.

Hi:

Does contribute actually allow you to make websites from scratch? I thought it was more of an update tool for non-web design peoples.

If Contribute can let me make a webpage, I'll give it a try: we have three licenses at work and are currently only using two.

Freeway

Hi everyone.

I installed a trial version of Freeway Express, and it seemed fairly good. Unfortunatly I use Dreamweaver so found it limiting, but if you are looking for an easy to use web editor I'd definatnly give Freeway Express a try. I got a Trial CD, but i think you can download the trial online.

I use N|VU . It's completely free , but it does have a few minor bugs. I built my entire site out of it, and it's turned out better than my expectations. It is a WYSIWYG editor with a source code view too. Using it, you aren't required to know HTML, but for browser accuracy, you have to insert a command (not required, but handy). If you go on over to NVU's forum, you can learn any and everything about using NVU. It's an easy program--I started in late march and feel pretty competent.

For a free webhost, I'm a huge fan of CJB . 50 MB space, 500MB bandwidth, FTP. Your address is easy: username.cjb.cc. For $3/mo, you can get a whole lot more stuff.

Mac HTML Editor

I would recommend WebDesign HTML Editor . Its not a WYSIWYG Editor but what it does do is generate code for you based on wizards that you drag and drop to the appopriate place on your page.

For a beginner its good cause it has an attribute editor where you just click within the tag and all the attributes with the appropriate value type is listed for you so you don't have to memorize all the attributes and what to enter as their values.

It also has an integrated HTML reference in it.

Its only about $30 so its not expensive at all.

HTH,

Sam
