All you need to do is simply turn off auto retrieve MMS in your message APP (Default App, Hangouts, Google Messengr). Done.
Now keep in mind there is not a single reported case of this exploit actually being executed. That being said, it's still a real vulnerability, so this will do you good until the official fix is pushed to your phone.
Full Disclosure: I did not do this for my own device because, well, I simply don't care about things that have a near zero chance of happening. And I like the convenience of auto retrieve.
