Why do sellers on eBay put buy it now and underneath it male an offer? When they will only take the buy it now price? This seems to be the way with people selling new products. I made an offer to a seller for 100-pound for a product costing 120, the seller replied saying Thanks a lot, we don't make money.? Why are they selling on eBay if they don,t want to male money? I wrote back to them saying *
i don,t know why you put make an offer when you only accept the price you put on there. Other sellers do the same thing, you should just put buy it now. There reply to me was this *
Thank you for your trust and support for our products.
But GBP 100 is too low for us because our shipping costs are expensive. They say the product is being sent from the Uk and yet they have a Chinese address . Then they sent another email Counteroffer for the full price.?Anyone had a similar experience?

It may help them gather data points on true market value of the items they sell.
Or it may be to be sure they are in search results when the searcher check the "Best Offer" box in advanced search.

Maybe the seller is trying to sell the item by providing as many different options to buy it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The thing was they had another one listed but you had to pay postage. The one i made a bid for postage was in the price.I was not expecting to get it for 100 pounds, but expected them to say 110.I think they should be honest and just have the buy it now.I don,t like paying the full price, not when it says make a offer anyway.

Yes this happens a fair bit recently and there's a reason for it. I've been on both ends of this. eBay use varies per region, and in the UK for example, I can create a bunch of new listings in the app and it will auto fill certain options like adding Buy It Now and other features that you may not want.

Sometimes I'm getting spammed with offers on stuff in the middle of the night and I'm like, what, how?

Then I check and see, yep, BIN is on.

I've had sellers recently who wouldn't take a single penny less, and I'm certain that's the same thing happening. They know it's up at a good price, cheapest price, and it's a popular item, so why would they need to take offers, someone will snap it up any day now, yet I am trying to make offers on it.

A cynical me would think that yes, maybe some people would enable BIN to attract attention but it's more likely to piss buyers off and they'll buy elsewhere to spite you if you won't take an offer when you've got the option enabled. Also, who can be arsed dealing with pointless back and forths, when you can sell the goods at the same price without that nonsense.

we down sized our house hold and are currently using ebay.

I find ebay has a wider range of products selection than Amazon or local retail.
but
all of these represent opportunity.

make an offer
If a buyer is hung up on a few dollars we can flex.
Maybe not.
we are not rude about it.

100 quids on 120 is already 20% off, add the 10% eBay tax plus shipping costs, it's easy to see why the seller is reluctant to deal at this price.

Yes i see that ,i was not exspecting them to accept that the shipping was in the price.

Every so often eBay knocks money off stuff, where they give you a code in to get a discount It,s not that , it seems most of the cheaper ones have those mini HDMI ports I have heard they get broken easier.

I am a semi-frequent seller on Ebay and have frequently made use of best offier.

In many cases, if I have something at what I think is a fair price or perhaps a bit above(so that I still have room to accept offers) I tend to be more flexible on price as the listing goes on. A few days after the listing goes live, you might at best get me to budge a few dollars or down to what I'd hoped to get.

On the other hand, if something has been up a month or two and I'm ready for it to sell, I start considering lower prices. I've surprised myself at how low of an offer I've taken on something, particularly after I spent far too much time looking at it or if I just needed the money from it. A while back, for example, I was selling a fairly rare watch that I'd had in my collection for a while and just decided it was time to move-I pedaled it around starting at $1600 on and off Ebay and worked down to $1300. After I'd been trying to sell it on and off for 6 months, a friend texted me and offered me $1000 for it-it was on its way to him that afternoon. Of course I stipulated an off-Ebay sale(saved me a lot of money in Ebay fees) and payment by check, but I sent it to him "on approval"(wait for it it to get there, then either send me a check or send it back depending on whether or not you want to keep it) but it was someone I'd dealt with a lot and was completely comfortable doing that.

Move on then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its clear you and the sellar are not seeing eye to eye
Sorry about the double post, I don,t know how that happened . Happy 2020 to you and everyone on here hope it is a good one. :)

we got a buyer interested in an item that was 4sale quite a long time. Buyer wanted to bypass ebay and kept texting to have us just send it out side ebay. I thought it was a scam. As it turnes out yesterday the buyer figured out ebay and submitted a valid bid. We are waiting for ebay to tell us he paid for the item. Looks like we might ship... soon maybe.

Everyone is soo different, this buyer is slow tho.

That is against eBay,s terms buying something outside eBay.A seller said to me he would offer a lower price if I bought it outside eBay I thought it was a big dodge and told him it was against eBay,s rules.Hope it all works out. :)
