So I randomly go into my system profiler and gaze upon my beast of a workstation, as we all do lol.

A week ago I saw an error on one of my memory modules.

"Errors detected on memory module" with a Yellow caution symbol. Also, "ECC Errors" in System Report Memory tab.

I didn't get any warnings pop up and everything has worked as it should. I guess that's the point of ECC.

After a reboot the warnings went away.

Just wondering if anyone. has encountered this and should I be worried about potential future problems.

Applecare rep said they can replace my stick if needed.

*Edit. Just checked and the error is back. This time saying 13 Correctable errors found.

Move the DIMM to a different slot, see if the errors follow it, get a screenshot / capture system diagnostic. Apple will almost certainly ask you to do that.

As far as I'm aware, your Mac was designed to correct and detect single bit errors. So your ECC RAM is doing exactly what it was designed to do. As to what is causing the errors, I can't determine source of interference unfortunately.
If your RAM was faulty, I believe you'd get a different error (I saw this on my DELL server, which then deactivated that stick of RAM without intervention).
I have seen this same error on a RAM stick in a MP 7.1 at work, and it went away after a week of correcting them.
I actually think you're OK, but by all means move the stick to another slot if you're worried, better to be safe :)

Switch the slots to see if the error follows the module or is actually with the slot. Someone mentioned that. Install memtester and you can test the RAM. If the module keeps bringing up ECC errors it's faulty. Yes, single bit errors can be corrected so the system won't crash but if the module is faulty you should preemptively replace it.
