Edge Trouble

Recently, my Edge icon has a tendency to disappear from the top of my phone after being idle for a while. I still have 5 bars, but no E icon which disables my ability to use data completely unless I turn on 3G or WiFi or reset the phone. Has anyone else had this problem? Before 2.0.2 this has never happened.
