Edit iTunes library via Text editor

Hello, I am having problems on my Mac that is turning something simple into a major pain in the neck. I just purchased a DVD box set and ripped the episodes to my computer. I have them loaded into iTunes, but they show up as movie items, so I attempt to go through and label them as episodes, but I could not get all of them changed over to episodes because my computer freezes up and forces a reboot. Because of this, I want to know how I can go through with XML or something and get the remaining 21 episodes labelled as episodes. I know that I'll need to manually move the files, which is not a problem, but having them show as episodes is a different story.
