Greetings...Is it possible to edit a photo from an iPhoto library shared via Bonjour?

I have an iPhoto library on my iMac shared via Bonjour...Can I edit photos in the shared library via iPhoto on my MacBook Pro? I am currently trying this, but my macbook pro only has iPhoto '06, while my iMac has iPhoto '08...when I connect to the imac, I seem to be only able to view the photos.
Not sure if this is a Bonjour issue or an incompatibility between iPhoto '06 and '08.
