Edited Acrobat files huge!

Hi-

I recently scanned catalogs for a website I manage to make them available on line. The company owner indicated he needed some material removed from each page so I brought each page into PhotoShop, cloned out the material and re-saved each page as a pfd and reassembled each catalog in Acrobat.

Problem is, the new file sizes are huge! One catalog went from 5.7 megs to 160.5! I've tired to the pdf optimizer to no avail. Any Ideas?
