Mac the Ripper to Handbrake to one of iMovie's supported formats: iMovie supports standard and high definition video, as well as the most popular formats, including DV, HDV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and even AVCHD. You dont need MTR for non-commercial dvds, and handbrake will not encode to a good editing format. What you really need is MPEG Streamclip.
