Before I used to go into the hosts file in /etc/ to block certain sites on this computer, using "127.0.0.1 sitename". Now, we have gotten a VPN service(sort of like a proxy thingy) that allows us to view sites like facebook and youtube that were blocked by the chinese government(we live in china) on a US server. It's sorta like what people use in the UK and other places to view hulu videos because they don't live in America.
However, now that we have the VPN, the hosts file doesn't seem to have any effect anymore. It seems like the VPN bypasses the hosts file preferences or something.
How do I block certain sites easily in my computer now that we use a VPN?
