Edition Series 3 Applecare question

Hi, quick question. I just got gifted my brothers old Series 3 Edition. He bought it last year. I had the Series 2 Edition and it came with 2 years of standard Applecare. For some reason when I check up the Series 3 the Applecare expires this year (2018). Since it was released on September 22, 2017 I know that shouldn't be the case. Everywhere I've read says the Series 3 Edition also came with 2 years standard AC.

Am I missing something?
