Per Apple's sales terms, buyers eligible for the education discount are limited to one mac per year. Does anyone have experience whether Apple actually enforces this?

I have been and am eligible for edu discounts and bought myself a new Macbook Air early September 2022. However, I'm really intrigued by the new 15" MBA now and am considering selling my 13" MBA and getting a 15". However, technically I would have to wait for another 3 months. It's not like I'm trying to act as a broker for friends and family and buy a new mac every other month taking advantage of the edu discount, and it's obviously already been quite some time since my last purchase; do I really have to wait the additional 3 months or will Apple not actually care?

I’m not sure, but I would just go online and make the purchase. Worst case scenario they say sorry your purchase did not go through and you have to wait three months. If it’s a different model, ie 15”, they probably are not going to care anyways.

I’m pretty sure they put these terms so people don’t try to buy multiples for their buddies or for resale purposes. In the USA Apple doesn’t even verify your student anymore. If someone was unethical, they could use the discount even if they weren’t a student.
