hi, i am buying my first macbook probably in a couple weeks and I am in High School, so i was wondering if I could get the $100 off the macbook even if i am not in college. I tried putting my highschool in the search but it wasn't listed so I am not sure if i can get the discount. Also, is the discount just online or if i went in the store they would allow it. Thanks!!!

I believe the education discount applies only to higher education institutes, starting at college.

It baffles me my no one can just visit Apple's education site and see.
K-12 Staff and teachers can get a discount. In order to receive the student discount you must be in college. More here.

You need to be in college, but if you can find a sympathetic sales rep they might let you; I remember when my cousin wanted to a Macbook and he brought me along; the sales rep put me as student in the local community college, even though I was not; Apple doesn't check; it's too much of a hassle. It's not to say you should ever ask the sales rep to do this for you.
