I am buying an IMAC for my niece for college. The rules seem to indicate the discount would only apply if I was the parent. Does anybody have experience with this? I want to get her the free iTouch and since it is a rebate, I dont want to get hit with paying for the extra $100 plus the iTouch.

Thanks

Nope, applies for anyone. Buy it online, and at that same moment, you pretty much can put in for the rebate.

I've done 2 this year already.

Is it a gift? Or can she be present at the time of purchase?

I decided to buy my wife (a teacher) a MBP recently as a gift, and they wouldn't honor the deal at the Mac store in the mall, but gave me no trouble whatsoever over the phone.
