i have just upgraded to the iPhone 7+ with EE through car phone warehouse. I have been told you don't get wifi calling included. Do you still get free calls and texts in the Eu?

That's weird as I have the option for wifi calling. But I am with T-Mob 3G plan rather than EE directly. Though it uses the same network.

Texts would be free as long as you're using wifi/iMessage. Not sure about calls as that would depend on your international plan.
