I was wondering because EE are the first one to the table does this mean they will have the best 4g speed/coverage than the other competitors when they come out?

It's acedemic, as they will be (for the forseeable future) the only 4G provider, so there's nothing to compare it to.

And apparently their typical speeds will only be around 8-10MB, which is pretty poor.

Three are launching their LTE network next year and Vodafone and O2's will not support the iPhone 5.
