With my SSD, it used to take about 3 seconds for my Al-MB to shut down. Tonight, I applied the EFI firmware update, and afterwards, I noticed my shut down time now takes at least 15 seconds longer.

I don't shut down everyday, so I wasn't sure if the update caused the slow shut down today, or it was something else that I messed up a while ago.

If you are about to do the EFI update, could you take note to see if your shut down time changes before vs. after.

EDIT: If I force quit the process 'dmnotifyd', then the shut down time is back to normal. Any thoughts?

I am also using SSD and my shutdown was instant both before and after the update.

Thanks.

Problem solved - nothing to do with EFI update (FYI, MB was trying to sync with Mobile Me, but the password wasn't enter).
