eGPU question

A bit confused on how an eGPU works. If I am looking to just remove my XDR Pro from taxing my dGPU of my MBP is it possible to drive the XDR only with the eGPU while my MBP still utilizes the internal dGPU for programs I am running?

Or would the eGPU be running everything?

Pretty much just want to remove the thermals the XDR Pro generates from my MBP as if "its not there".

For what it's worth, this is what windows task manager shows for my dell running and epgu and modern warfare. So probably no dgpu use.
