egpu with thunderbolt 2

A lot of people seem to be hyped about the new egpu interface provided by high sierra. All the previews and tests so far seem to show external cards utilizing the new macbooks with tb3. I was wondering if we would see the same sort of egpu performance in 2015 macbooks using tb3 -> tb2 adapters. I would be interested in pairing up a decent egpu on my 2015 15'' mbp to game on windows with bootcamp.

According the this table, some people are using 2015 15" rMBPs with eGPUs. I have heard the performance is slow, with 50% of the frame rate of native windows 10 machine running a 10xx series card. And for TB-3 about 80%.
