For quite a while now upon boot before logging in I've been presented with a error message saying something along the lines of "A USB device is using too much power, the hub it is connected to will be deactivated" but my USB ports worked fine so I've just ignored the error message. However recently I've noticed that my first USB port does not work, the second one does. Apple Hardware Test and TechTools Pro report no problems but when using USB Prober the error in this thread's topic is logged when a device is plugged into the first USB port. I have already tried resetting the SMC. So what does this mean, is the first USB port dead? What would Apple have to do to repair it, replace the logic board? How much would that cost (my laptop is out of warranty by now)? Thanks! :)
