Just purchased a new iMac on Friday and I just realized that the eject key isn't working but everything else is working perfectly.

dude, the eject key isn't doing what it's supposed to. I'm burning an album and it beeps to tell me it is done so I eject it but nothing happens.

Sorry, should have mentioned earlier, that the EJECT key only works with the internal optical disk drive (ODD).

And iTunes, if that is what you use to burn, gives you the option to eject a CD, as does Finder. While the EJECT key is nice and such, it is now useless, unless you may use the Apple SuperDrive.

it depends on the brand of external drive, some of them you will need to manual add to the eject menu. (/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/)

you can also try option Eject to eject non Apple drives.
