The main problem I have been experiencing since moving from Snow Leopard to El Capitan has been internet browser hangs while trying to download image files. I'm not posting this here for help so much as to hear whether others have been experiencing the same or a similar issue (although if someone has a diagnosis and quick fix, I will be all ears!).
Let's say I want to save some image files from the gallery at

With Snow Leopard, my preference for downloading image files from the internet was to save them to a dedicated folder, which currently contains thousands of files. Snow Leopard manages this without a single hiccup--I could serially download multiple files one after another pretty rapidly.
El Capitan, on the other hand, using the same downloads folder, is brought to its knees every time after just a few minutes. The spinning wheel appears in Firefox (or Safari), and the browser just hangs. Activity Monitor shows Firefox taking up 93-95% of cpu of activity. Console shows messages related to quicklookd, iconservicesagent, and Spotlight, such as (the actual error messages go on much longer than this though, for hundreds of lines):
Now, this misbehavior can be avoided by saving the downloaded images to the system default Downloads folder instead, which typically starts with only a dozen or so files inside. After finishing a session of downloading images, I then transfer all of the newly downloaded files over to the large dedicated downloaded images folder. No hangs, no spinning wheels--but the extra step is a pain in the tuchis.
Anyone else experienced this?
