I have a ibook G4 and its quite old, four and a half years old I think. I've had no trouble with it so far, but recently it shut itself off (it happened twice) and I have to let it rest a while before I can turn it on again. I got a new battery over the summer, but apart from that I've done nothing different. Is this the beginning of the end for my laptop? Is there anything I can do?

Thanks.

My iBook would have been 4 years and a half years old now, but as you can probably guess, it didn't make it that far. It died about six months ago, and its initial symptoms were random shutting downs. One day it wouldn't turn back on, and I couldn't bring it back (I took it apart, and looked a few common internet issues that might have been able to lengthen its life, and none worked).

So, if I were you, I'd be prepared for it failing so it's not such a shock when it happens.
