Electric Current?

When im holding my iPhone 3G, I have my pinky of my right hand underneathe it, covering the area where you plug it in to charge it. Lately I have been feeling like there is some sort of electric current flowing through my finger coming from this area, and it is very uncomfortable.

Could this actually be happening? Or am I just imagining things?

Obviously that area does have a direct connection to the battery. I could see it creating a small shock. Can you hold it differently?
